Such outputs may relate to user preferences, pet interests, breed-specific trends, content engagement, community relationships, product interests, wellness topics, industry insights, or future product development.
4. Pet Information
Barkera is a pet-industry ecosystem. Pet Information is central to the Services, including educational content, community experiences, pet profiles, breed-specific resources, marketplace recommendations, research initiatives, AI tools, and industry intelligence.
You may choose to submit information about your pet, including information that may be sensitive or health-related in nature. Barkera is not a veterinary practice, veterinary hospital, veterinary telemedicine provider, or provider of veterinary medical services. Information submitted through the Services should not be treated as veterinary medical records unless expressly stated in a separate agreement with a licensed veterinary provider.
Barkera may use Pet Information to provide and personalize the Services, support pet profiles, recommend content, communities, products, services, events, professionals, or resources, develop breed-specific education, conduct research, improve AI systems, analyze trends, create aggregate or de-identified insights, and develop future Barkera products and services.
Barkera may analyze Pet Information on breed-specific, species-specific, age-specific, wellness-specific, geographic, demographic, behavioral, grooming, training, nutrition, product, insurance, travel, lifestyle, or other relevant bases. This may include creating breed-level models, community-level models, wellness trends, educational recommendations, predictive analytics, and pet-industry benchmarks.
You should not submit emergency pet-health information through Barkera if immediate veterinary attention is needed. If you believe a pet may be experiencing a medical emergency, contact a licensed veterinarian, emergency animal hospital, or appropriate professional immediately.
5. Community Information
Barkera Communities may include public, private, restricted, moderated, paid, invitation-only, breed-specific, expert-led, ambassador-led, professional, or topic-specific communities. Community rules may vary by community and may be supplemented by community-specific notices.
Content you post or share within a community may be visible to other users, moderators, administrators, experts, ambassadors, partners, or the public depending on the community settings. Public or semi-public content may be indexed by search engines, viewed by non-members, or shared outside the Services. Private or restricted community content may still be accessible to Barkera, its service providers, moderators, administrators, and others as needed to operate, secure, enforce, analyze, improve, or support the Services.
Barkera may collect and analyze community activity, including posts, comments, messages, reactions, group memberships, follows, affiliations, referrals, user relationships, engagement patterns, trust signals, topic trends, content popularity, questions asked, resources viewed, and interactions with experts, ambassadors, or other members.
Community Information may be used to operate communities, personalize feeds, improve recommendations, rank content, suggest groups or experts, identify trending topics, support moderation, detect spam or abuse, conduct research, develop AI systems, create aggregated insights, and build community intelligence and industry intelligence products.
Certain communities may permit or restrict the use of contributed content for research, AI training, benchmarking, publication, or commercial analytics. Where appropriate, Barkera may provide community-specific notices, participation terms, opt-in mechanisms, opt-out mechanisms, or supplemental rules. Users are responsible for reviewing community-specific terms before participating.
6. AI and Digital Interactions
Barkera may provide or integrate Artificial Intelligence Systems, including AI pet assistants, chatbots, AI agents, automated recommendations, content suggestion tools, moderation tools, predictive systems, expert knowledge systems, digital avatars, synthetic media features, and related technologies.
When you interact with AI features, Barkera may collect prompts, questions, uploads, responses, conversation history, feedback, ratings, correction signals, usage patterns, pet-related information submitted to the AI feature, device information, and other information necessary or useful to operate, improve, evaluate, monitor, secure, and audit those features.
AI-generated information may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, biased, or unsuitable for a particular circumstance. Barkera does not guarantee that AI outputs are correct, complete, current, or appropriate. AI outputs are provided for educational and informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as veterinary, medical, legal, financial, professional, or emergency advice.
Barkera may use third-party AI providers, including OpenAI and related services, to support AI features. Information submitted to AI features may be processed by those providers according to their own terms, privacy policies, security practices, retention practices, and contractual arrangements with Barkera. Barkera does not control the independent policies of third-party AI providers.
Barkera may maintain logs, monitoring records, safety filters, evaluation data, moderation records, and audit trails relating to AI interactions for security, safety, quality control, legal compliance, abuse prevention, research, model evaluation, and product improvement.
7. Scientific Research and Industry Intelligence
Barkera may use information collected through the Services for scientific, academic, behavioral, educational, product, market, consumer, pet-wellness, breed-specific, community, marketplace, and industry research. Research may be conducted by Barkera, affiliates, service providers, academic collaborators, industry partners, professional contributors, or other authorized research partners.
Research may include analysis of pet health and wellness trends, breed-specific patterns, behavior trends, nutrition interests, grooming needs, training topics, insurance interests, travel needs, consumer preferences, community discussions, professional expertise, marketplace activity, educational engagement, product usage, and broader pet-industry trends.
Barkera may use personal information, Pet Information, Community Content, device and usage information, derived data, de-identified data, aggregated data, synthetic data, and other lawfully processed information for research purposes, subject to applicable law, user permissions, community-specific terms, and appropriate safeguards.
Where reasonably practicable and appropriate for the research purpose, Barkera may aggregate, de-identify, anonymize, pseudonymize, or synthesize data before using it for research, reporting, publication, benchmarking, or industry analysis. However, some research or operational use cases may require identifiable information, such as user surveys, expert panels, event participation, consented studies, or customer support follow-up.
Barkera may publish, disclose, license, sell, distribute, commercialize, or otherwise make available research outputs, reports, white papers, case studies, benchmark studies, trend reports, educational materials, industry intelligence products, or analytical products, provided that such outputs do not disclose personal information in a manner prohibited by applicable law or contrary to applicable user permissions.
Participation in certain research activities may be voluntary and may be governed by separate consent forms, study terms, institutional review board requirements, research notices, or partner agreements. If separate research terms apply, those terms will govern the specific research activity to the extent they conflict with this Privacy Policy.
8. Industry Intelligence and Benchmarking Rights
Barkera may develop industry intelligence, trend reports, benchmarks, indexes, analytics dashboards, market insights, educational reports, predictive models, and commercial intelligence products based on information collected through the Services.
These products may include insights regarding pet ownership, breed communities, grooming demand, wellness interests, nutrition trends, training topics, behavioral concerns, product preferences, service demand, insurance trends, travel interests, professional expertise, community engagement, marketplace activity, event participation, and other pet-industry matters.
Barkera may create such outputs from aggregated information, de-identified information, derived data, synthetic data, statistical models, community-level analytics, breed-level analytics, marketplace analytics, content analytics, and other lawful data sources.
Barkera may use, publish, sell, license, distribute, promote, or commercialize these outputs for research, educational, business, product, partner, investor, industry, media, marketing, or commercial purposes, provided that Barkera does not disclose personal information in a manner prohibited by applicable law.
Nothing in this Privacy Policy transfers ownership of Barkera-created aggregated insights, de-identified outputs, synthetic data, derived data, models, analytics, research reports, industry intelligence, benchmarks, recommendations, or other outputs to any user, contributor, partner, or third party, except as expressly agreed in a separate written agreement signed by Barkera.
9. Artificial Intelligence Systems
Barkera may collect, use, analyze, derive, transform, annotate, label, evaluate, train upon, fine-tune, test, monitor, audit, and otherwise process information for the development, operation, improvement, evaluation, commercialization, and governance of Artificial Intelligence Systems.
Artificial Intelligence Systems may include AI pet assistants, breed-specific models, community-specific models, expert knowledge systems, recommendation engines, personalization systems, search and ranking systems, moderation tools, safety systems, fraud detection systems, analytics systems, synthetic media systems, avatar systems, and future AI-enabled features.
Information used for AI purposes may include user content, community content, pet profile information, breed information, engagement data, questions, prompts, images, videos, audio, feedback, survey responses, expert content, educational content, marketplace activity, event activity, and other data described in this Privacy Policy.
Barkera may use community content for AI training or model improvement on a community-specific basis. Some communities may allow AI training, research, or analytics use; other communities may impose restrictions. Barkera may disclose community-specific practices through community rules, participation terms, notices, settings, or supplemental policies.
Barkera may use pet data for AI training or model development on a breed-specific, species-specific, category-specific, wellness-specific, behavior-specific, or other relevant basis. Such use may support educational recommendations, breed resources, pet-wellness intelligence, predictive models, community features, and future products.
Barkera may use third-party AI platforms and infrastructure providers. These providers may process information on Barkera’s behalf or, in some cases, under their own policies and terms. Users should not submit confidential, proprietary, sensitive, emergency, or legally restricted information to AI features unless specifically authorized and appropriate.
Barkera may use human review, automated evaluation, red-team testing, safety testing, content filtering, quality scoring, prompt logging, response logging, and feedback mechanisms to improve AI systems and reduce harmful, inaccurate, biased, unsafe, or policy-violating outputs.
Where required by law or where Barkera determines it is appropriate, Barkera may provide additional disclosures, consent mechanisms, opt-out opportunities, or usage restrictions for AI-related processing.
10. Digital Avatars and Synthetic Representations
Barkera may create, provide, host, license, deploy, or integrate digital avatars, synthetic voices, simulated experts, digital representatives, AI-generated characters, virtual educators, animated spokespeople, knowledge models, or other synthetic representations.
Digital avatars may be fictional, composite, generalized, brand-based, community-based, expert-inspired, licensed from real individuals, or based on authorized contributors, professionals, ambassadors, educators, or partners. Unless expressly stated otherwise, a digital avatar is not the actual person, professional, expert, or organization it may appear to represent, and any output from an avatar is informational only.
Where an avatar, synthetic voice, likeness, image, biography, personality, name, professional identity, or knowledge model is based on a real person, Barkera intends to obtain appropriate permissions, releases, licenses, consents, contributor agreements, or other authorizations as determined by Barkera and legal counsel.
Barkera may collect and process images, videos, audio recordings, voice samples, biographies, professional content, educational materials, interviews, presentations, writings, community answers, and other materials to create, train, improve, operate, evaluate, commercialize, and support avatar and synthetic media experiences.
Users, experts, ambassadors, contributors, and partners who upload or provide media represent that they have all rights, permissions, consents, and authorizations necessary to provide such media to Barkera and to permit Barkera to process it in connection with the Services, subject to applicable agreements and law.
Barkera may use third-party providers such as HeyGen or similar synthetic media platforms to create, host, render, process, or manage avatars, videos, voice, or synthetic media. Such providers may maintain their own terms, privacy policies, data processing practices, and security measures outside Barkera’s direct control.
Barkera may label, disclose, watermark, restrict, moderate, remove, audit, or otherwise control avatar or synthetic media features as needed for legal, safety, brand, ethical, quality, or operational reasons.
11. Community Intelligence and Social Connections
Barkera may analyze relationships, interactions, affiliations, follows, memberships, invitations, referrals, messages, comments, reactions, endorsements, event attendance, expert interactions, ambassador activity, marketplace interactions, and other community signals to improve the Services and develop community intelligence.
Community intelligence may be used to recommend communities, experts, ambassadors, events, educational resources, products, services, marketplace offerings, partners, content, and other users; rank content; detect spam or abuse; improve safety; evaluate trust and engagement; personalize user experiences; and conduct research or analytics.
Barkera may build relationship maps, influence indicators, topic graphs, breed-community insights, professional-network insights, engagement segments, interest clusters, and other derived data from community activity. Such outputs may be used internally or in aggregated, de-identified, synthetic, or commercial intelligence products.
Barkera does not guarantee that community recommendations, rankings, trust signals, or relationship analytics are accurate, complete, neutral, or suitable for any particular purpose. Users remain responsible for evaluating any person, product, professional, service provider, or recommendation encountered through the Services.
12. Advertising and Marketing
Barkera may use information to provide marketing, advertising, sponsored content, partner promotions, newsletters, Barkera Briefs, event notices, marketplace offers, product recommendations, retargeting, audience analytics, campaign measurement, and promotional communications.
Advertising and marketing activities may involve Barkera, affiliates, advertisers, sponsors, marketplace partners, analytics providers, social media platforms, email service providers, SMS providers, pixel providers, cookie providers, and other marketing technology providers.

Barkera may offer sponsored content, partner content, affiliate content, product placements, co-branded content, marketplace promotions, and educational materials supported by sponsors or partners. Such content may be personalized based on user activity, pet profiles, community participation, interests, or other information.
Barkera may use or later implement technologies such as cookies, pixels, SDKs, server-side tracking, conversion APIs, email tracking, analytics tags, advertising identifiers, or similar technologies. Such technologies may include or integrate with third-party platforms, including social media or advertising platforms, depending on Barkera’s business needs.
You may be able to opt out of certain marketing communications by using unsubscribe links, adjusting account settings, replying STOP to eligible SMS messages, or contacting Barkera. Opting out of marketing communications does not prevent Barkera from sending transactional, administrative, security, legal, account, or service-related communications.
13. Third-Party Technology Providers
Barkera uses third-party technology platforms, software providers, service providers, infrastructure providers, processors, vendors, integrations, and business partners to operate, support, secure, analyze, advertise, improve, and deliver the Services.

Users acknowledge that Barkera may continue to use aggregated, de-identified, derived, modeled, synthetic, statistical, or benchmark outputs even after a user deletes an account or requests deletion of personal information, to the extent permitted by applicable law and provided such outputs do not identify the user in a manner prohibited by law.
16. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Barkera and its providers may use cookies, pixels, web beacons, tags, SDKs, local storage, session replay tools, analytics scripts, advertising identifiers, device identifiers, server logs, conversion APIs, and similar technologies to operate, secure, personalize, analyze, advertise, and improve the Services.

Third-party providers may set or read cookies or similar technologies through the Services. Their use of such technologies may be governed by their own policies and settings. Barkera does not control all third-party tracking technologies or how third parties use data collected through them.
You may be able to control cookies through browser settings, device settings, mobile platform settings, consent tools, opt-out links, or other mechanisms. Blocking cookies may affect the availability or functionality of certain Services.
Barkera may provide a separate Cookie Policy or cookie preference tool if required by law or as determined appropriate. If Barkera implements such a tool, the choices available through that tool will apply as described in the tool or related notice.
17. International Transfers
Barkera is headquartered in the United States and currently intends to serve users primarily in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in the United States and other jurisdictions where Barkera or its service providers operate.
Privacy laws in the United States and other jurisdictions may differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using the Services, you acknowledge that information may be processed in jurisdictions that may not provide the same level of data protection as your jurisdiction.
If Barkera later expands to Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom, or other international markets, Barkera may update this Privacy Policy, adopt supplemental notices, implement additional legal bases for processing, use transfer mechanisms, appoint representatives, or take other compliance steps as required by applicable law.
Barkera does not currently represent that the Services are intended for or directed to residents of jurisdictions outside the United States unless expressly stated in a separate notice or agreement.
18. Data Security
Barkera uses reasonable administrative, technical, organizational, and physical safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, destruction, or disclosure. These safeguards may include access controls, encryption, vendor controls, logging, monitoring, network protections, authentication, backup procedures, policies, and other measures appropriate to the nature of the information and Services.
No method of transmission, processing, or storage is completely secure. Barkera cannot guarantee that information will be secure from unauthorized access, cyberattacks, human error, technical failure, vendor failure, or other events.
Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of account credentials, using strong passwords, limiting access to devices, and promptly notifying Barkera of suspected unauthorized account access or security incidents.
In the event of a security incident involving personal information, Barkera will take steps it determines appropriate under the circumstances and will provide notices required by applicable law.

Barkera may retain community content after account deletion where permitted by law, such as when content has been shared with others, incorporated into discussions, used for moderation or safety records, included in aggregated or de-identified outputs, required for legal compliance, or necessary to preserve community integrity.
Barkera may retain de-identified, aggregated, derived, synthetic, statistical, backup, archival, security, fraud-prevention, legal, or research information for longer periods where permitted by law.
When information is no longer needed, Barkera may delete, de-identify, aggregate, anonymize, archive, or otherwise process it in accordance with applicable policies and technical capabilities.

Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by applicable law, but Barkera may require proof of authorization and verification of the user’s identity.
Barkera will not discriminate against users for exercising privacy rights where prohibited by law. However, certain choices or requests may limit the availability or functionality of the Services.
20.1 California Notice
Barkera may not currently be subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, unless statutory thresholds or other applicability criteria are met.
