Content Curation Policy
Last Updated April 01, 2023
The Barkera Corp. uses various forms of content including written text, photography, audio, and video (live or on-demand) along with in-person interactions to encourage discussions and unity across the Pet Community.
Barkera Corp. recognized the importance of creating clear content through various communication tools. One of our goals is to achieve unity across the Pet Industry by introducing conversations and knowledge transfer for Pet Industry Businesses and Pet owners abroad.
To accomplish such a vision, Barkera Corp. has invested in powerful global technology that will allow content to be curated across various mediums to distribute to targeted communities within the Pet Industry.
Content Distribution Overview
Defining content curation distribution via private, public traditional, and digital platforms:
Overall distribution of relevant content can be performed in various ways. This may include live in-person events, online meetings, social media, website pages, and ideally any form of traditional (books) or digital medium.
As an example: Social media technology is any tool or service that enables conversations over the internet. Social media applies not only to traditional big names, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, but also to other platforms that include user conversations including digital platforms such as YouTube, Flickr, blogs online forums, websites, and wikis. These platforms are public access and are owned by various companies that control specific access and policies outside of (BE)’s control.
Barkera Corp. has its own private technology platforms that also enable conversations over the internet. (BE), private technology platform means that we have control of what content we consider to be for public or private use. In addition to what outlets the content would be best consumed by the end user to achieve the overarching goals.
The Policies for content curation are applicable to both Public Third-Party technologies along Barkera Corp. technologies.
Barkera Corp. Public and Private Content Distribution Policy
The purpose of this policy is to set out expectations for freelancers when using social media in connection with Barkera Corp. It should be remembered that social media is never private regardless of the platform.
We are part of a community of like-minded people with a shared passion, who deserve respect and support from one another.
This policy is supported by our Code of Conduct for Members.
Our approach to social media is that we trust the community that we seek to engage with. If one of our content curators posts illegal, offensive, or defamatory material, we will seek to take action.
The Barkera Corp. team recognizes that it is practical for freelancers and members to use a wide variety of social media platforms for the purposes of communicating effectively and we don’t want to hinder this. However, it’s important to determine the difference between Barkera Corp.-owned platforms and other third-party platforms.
Barkera Corp. requires its Freelancer to communicate any Barkera Corp. messaging or content used via any public third-party owned platforms (i.e. Facebook) and that you conduct the following:
• Identify and register the group with the Barkera Corp. Leadership Team, along with access details (if applicable), the purpose of the group, and benefit for (BE)
• Ensure that the Barkera Corp. is presented in a positive, professional manner
• Make sure users of the group follow the principles of conduct outlined below
• Moderate that group
• If you have your groups, pages etc. established, Barkera Corp. implores you to continue with your specific journey
Similar to Public Third-Party Platforms, Barkera Corp. Private technology requires these guidelines be followed:
You will take responsibility for the activity and curation within the specific access you are provided to each platform. Barkera Corp. allows approved logos and digital assets the understanding that as the creator you will:
• Identify the topics, objectives or strategies and present them to Barkera Corp. Leadership team
• Ensure that the Barkera Corp. is presented in a positive, professional manner and remains neutral
• Make sure users of the group follow the principles of conduct outlined below
• Moderate direction where applicable
• Communicate and escalate to the Barkera Corp. Leadership team any issues, direction changes, or anything that doesn’t align with the original goals
Please note that Barkera Corp. reserves the right to withdraw its association with you, a third-party association, and the right to use any of our logos or other materials.
In setting up any content distribution regardless of the technology platform, group, or account under the name of Barkera Corp. that account must be considered Barkera Corp. property. This means that if you leave your role or the Barkera Corp. you won’t be able to assert any further.
Barkera Corp.Confidential ownership of the contacts and connections gained through our platforms needs to pass ownership and control back to the Barkera Corp. leadership Team.
General Principles & Behaviors Surrounding Content Curation
We have five content curation principles that underpin the expectations of all Freelancer: Be nice, have fun, and connect | Protect information | Follow the law, follow the code of conduct | Be responsible | Use common sense
We advise that you abide by and post these principles where applicable, however briefly, in a prominent place where users will see them.
1. Be nice, have fun, and connect
Barkera Corp. is providing a place to have conversations specific to PETs and build connections on behalf of Barkera Corp. The connections made will be much more rewarding if you remember to have conversations rather than push agendas. Users should avoid communications that might be offensive or misconstrued in a way that could damage our reputation, even indirectly. Users should remember that what is written might be available to be read by the public, Barkera Corp. colleagues, freelancers, employers, and acquaintances for a long time.
2. Protect information
Platforms encourage the sharing of information. Users may have access to confidential or sensitive information about the organization, its staff, members, or Freelancer that shouldn’t be made public. Confidential or personally identifiable information should not be shared.
3. Follow the law, follow the code of conduct
Digital Platforms enable incredibly fast communication and messages can go viral in seconds. This makes it difficult to fix an inaccurate message once shared. The best thing to do is double-check all content first, both for accuracy and to make sure it fits with the Barkera Corp. Code of Conduct and any restrictions that may apply based on local law and the platform in use.
4. Be responsible
If you see something being shared related to Barkera Corp. on any platform that shouldn’t be happening, then please tell the Leadership team. Legal conclusions, intellectual property belonging to others, and defamatory or offensive language should always be avoided. Everything posted online can be traced back to the source. Avoid posting comments about sensitive Barkera Corp.-related topics. Even if it is clear that views do not represent those of the Barkera Corp., comments could still damage our reputation and result in legal action.
5. Use common sense
Social media use requires common sense. A good rule of thumb is if you feel comfortable saying what you are posting to a wide audience of people, it is safe to post.
Reporting issues and/or breaches
Acting if you feel the principles have been breached, you may have a concern about activities on various platforms that may breach our principles, hurt others, undermine the purpose of the goals, and missions, or impact Barkera Corp.
If you feel this is the case, the following may help
What you can do
• If you feel the tone or language of a conversation is getting out of hand, be careful about engaging further, as this can often make things worse.
• If you are a curator owner, you must act by either reminding others of the purpose of the communication, content, posts, etc., then reminding them of the principles of behavior, or the Barkera Corp. Code of Conduct for Members, or moderating further.
• If you are still concerned, you may raise the issue with the Barkera Corp. leadership Team.
What the Barkera Corp. will do
If Barkera Corp. is notified of an issue, we will first contact the owner of the content curator and ask that they try to address the matter. If the matter is serious or continues to be a problem Barkera Corp. may:
• Delete content immediately.
• Withdraw its consent to use the Barkera Corp. name or logos and either close down the source of content published or request to the third party to be closed down.
• Act under the Code of Conduct, which can result in the withdrawal of Membership for individual(s) as provided for in our legal rules and applicable law.
